How to Personalize Your Vans Using a Common Kitchen Item

Posted on December 15 2015

Is it time to freshen up your old skate shoes? What if we told you that we learned a cool trick to revamp some old sneakers on a budget. Whether you want to add new flair to some old Van high-tops, or browse our inventory for a new pair to personalize, you’ll love this quick customization trick.

You’ll only need two things: your Vans of choice, and a bottle of spray bleach.

Vlogger Jacob Keller made this step by step instruction video for his channel,AlwaysFreshApparel. In the above tutorial, he shows you how he created his DIY “Magma” Vans.

To complete this project safely, it’s important to perform all the steps outdoors. Begin by placing your Vans on a surface you don’t mind destroying. Keller uses an old paper bag, or you could use newspaper.

Next, remove the laces and grab your bleach. Keller uses a combination of large drips and misting spritzes to create the desired look. After a couple hours of drying time you should have a brand new, awesome pair of customized Vans.

Experiment with different colors and styles of Vans to make a pair of unique shoes that match your personality.
